Jerry W. Alberts
LINCOLN, Ill. -- Jerry Alberts, 70, of Lincoln, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born April 3, 1933, in Lincoln, the son of Henry W. and Lorene (Bollin) Alberts. He married Hazel Rademaker on June 1, 1959, in Davenport, Iowa. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include four sons, Chuck, Bill, Bob, and John; and three grandchildren.
Mr. Alberts was a member of the 1952 Kansas University national basketball championship team and the 1953 Final Four team. Mr. Alberts was guidance director at Lincoln Community High School and a tennis and basketball coach for 34 years. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1957. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lincoln Elks Club, Logan County Board of Realtors and Illinois Basketball Coaches Association.
Burial was at the Old Union Cemetery in Lincoln. The family suggests memorials to the church or to Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.
