Lightning quote

I wonder what that means
It means that the lightning stuck the railroad tracks, and the spike of electricity fooled the gates into thinking a train was coming, so all the gates lowered.
oh! I didn't think it was literal
I thought it was some sort of figure of speach for something that meant something else.
Like, if you were telling me something complicated that I didn't understand, I could say "lightning just hit the tracks and all the gates came down."
I'll try to think of an explanation for if it were a metaphor.
haha!
