Cool Easy to make

I recently found a site that told me a really cool (and easy way) to make a laser trip wire.

Take a remote controll and tape down the VOLUME UP button then mount it in a tree. The range depends on how good the remote is, but remotes are very easy to find on ebay.ca. I also find that on an older remotes that any button will do but the volume up tends to work the best.

Now does anyone else have any secrets? or ways to make cool laser weapons outta farily easy to find items? I heard somehting about a LASER GRENADE but i think it was referring to that old Laser Challenge Team Force Grenade.
