The Equipment Page
Of course we all realize that Worlds Of Wonder went bankrupt and original Lazer Tag kits are no longer in production. Here we reflect upon some of our favorite items to come from WOW and highlight any new official Lazer Tag product releases. We'll add new items to the top if this list as they are released.
Lazer Tag Phoenix LTX
In summer 2008, Hasbro debuted a revamped Lazer Tag called the Phoenix LTX, sold in a set called the Multiplayer Battle system, previously known as the LazerTag 2-in-1 System. This tagger has some great new features, as well as backward compatability with LTTO equipment out of the box in LTAG mode, a new selectable Team Tag mode, and the ability to join LTTO hosted games. via Flux /GregGaub
Lazer Tag Team Ops "Deluxe" Tagger
The first Lazer Tag Team Ops (LTTO) tagger. This is the tagger that most LTTO fans started out with. This originally came in a 2-Player pack with one bronze/orange and one green tagger, as well as two HUD units of matching color. Later this came in a 1-Player pack with one tagger and one HUD unit enhanced with a camoflage type paint job. The third version came as a 2 Player set in blue and gold, again, with matching HUD units. via Flux /GregGaub
Lazer Tag Team Ops "Drone" IRT-2X
The IRT-2x (code/nickname "Drone") was the second LTTO tagger to hit the market. It offered a new design and new games, as well as some neat features, while still maintaining balance with other taggers. The Drones originally came in green and orange colors similar to the Deluxe taggers, but later were released in blue and maroon color schemes. via Flux /GregGaub
Lazer Tag Team Ops "Master Blaster"
The Tag Master Blaster, TMB, was the third LTTO tagger. This is the BFG of the LTTO line, with a rifle design and projectile tag "missile" launcher. While it might seem that this tagger would provide the team with it a great advantage, in practice this is not necessarily the case. Though if players complain, simply make sure each team has an equal number of TMBs on it. via Flux /GregGaub
Lazer Tag Team Ops "Thunder Pack"
The Thunder Pack includes a sensory feedback device and a virtual scope. The accessory mounts to the butt of the tagger and creates a vibration when firing and when tagged. The Virtual Scope is a red-dot style sight provides a green dot on a plastic "lens" (no magnification) with a crosshairs graphic. This is an essential accessory for the Deluxe tagger due to the unintuitive built-in sights on that tagger. It's not as needed on the Drone or TMB, but still much better than the built-in notch and post sight. via Flux /GregGaub
Lazer Tag Team Ops "Comm"
Simple short range 900mhz Walkie-Talkie units. These are sold in packs of 2, one red/orange, and one green. The main unit clips to a belt or loop and a wired headset is worn on the ear. Includes 3 channels for up to 3 teams during an LTTO game. via Flux /GregGaub
Star Wars: Episode 1: TPM: Naboo Assault Set
Two differently styled Star Wars gun replicas come in the Naboo Assault Set. Both are replicas of blasters from the movie. They each have a sensor attached to the gun. I think I saw it retail at one store for around $40, but it could have been closer to $50. These were released on May 3, 1999.
You might want to check out Tiger's new Star Wars area at www.game.com/starwars/ if you happen to like cool web animation and Star Wars .
Star Wars: Episode 1: TPM: Battle Set
Two differently styled Star Wars gun replicas come in the Battle Set. They each have a sensor attached to the gun. I haven't seen these in stores yet, though I'm sure they are. I expect this set to be a little less expensive and the guns to be a little smaller than the Naboo Assualt Set's. These were released on May 3, 1999.
Skeet Shoot
What looks to be Tiger's only 1999 non-Star Wars offering to its Lazer Tag line is the Lazer Tag Skeet Shoot. The gun has a built in launch area for the "skeet." One needs only to place the skeet in the launch area on the gun, crank the handle and press the launch button. The skeet then launches up to 20 feet in the air. Firing and hitting sound effects let you know when you've made a hit. Plus you can try to hit the skeet multiple times before it hits the ground. Suggested retail price is $24.99. Expected release for the Skeet Shoot is Spring 1999.
A.T.W
This noisy cricket looking gun is shipping 7/98, according to Tiger. The name is an acronym for "Advanced Tactical Weapon." This little guy is designed to be like a saturday night special (read: a back-up piece), but it has a variety of features. It has an up-close-and-personal range of 45 feet, has an integrated 360 degree target, has single shot and rapid fire capabilities and has NO "Super Strike" or forcefield. These come in a set of two. It is being marketed as good for indoor games. We have seen these (4/1/99) at Targets and Wal-Marts for $20
B.L.A.S.T.
This bad boy is also shipping 7/98. The name is an acronym for "Battlefield Lazer For All Situations Tactical." When set up like a bazooka, it has a 200 foot range. In morter launcher mode (shown left) it has 200 foot "Ultra Wide Beam." The rifle boasts 350 foot range. That's right, it is actually a three-in-one gun that acts differently depending on how you set it up. The B.L.A.S.T. vibrates when you shoot and has a forcefield. It has hit vibrations, voice alarms, l.e.d. sight, integrated target and mute button.
We have seen this at Toys"R"Us in Springfield, Illinois (as of 8/5/98) for $79.99. 'LazerBait' and a friend have them already (as of 8/2/98), and he said "it works great." The price was marked down shortly before Xmas 1998 to around $40, at least at Wal-Mart. After x-mas 1998, these were on sale at Wal-Mart for $25!
Assault Set
This Item is another 7/98 release from Tiger. This comes with two strikers and two targets (one of each is pictured). They have indoor/outdoor switches, "Super Strike" and forcefield, a range of 100 feet and a mute button. These should be more comfortable, too, we hope.
We saw this at Toys"R"Us for $34.99. This is a cheaper price point than the first set of strikers which are still selling for $39.99.
Stinger
This smaller-sized rifle, also shipping 7/98, has a l.e.d sight, a target (also pictured) that can be worn on the chest or attached to the gun, hit vibration, 250 foot range, "Super Strike" and forcefield.
Stingers cost $55 for two guns and two vests they also have a mute button and an indoor outdoor switch.
Star Wars/Rebel
This Item is another release from Tiger Electronics and is available as of 7/97. An official Star Wars/Lazer Tag unit! This new set consists of Han Solo Type blasters and target units (that resemble the panel on front of an X-wing jumpsuit) that are worn on the chest. The "Rebel Infantry Deluxe Pack" comes with 2 Laser Strikers/blasters and 2 sensor/targets. (no sheild or super shot)
Toys"R"Us had these for $39.99 (when first released).
Lazer Target
This Item is another release from Tiger Electronics and is available as of 7/97! These Targets are packaged with one Lazer Striker and called a "Sport Pack". Has an indoor and outdoor setting. 10 hits to knock out.
Available at your local Toys R Us for $24.99 (when first released).
Lazer Striker
With built in target, this Item is a new release from Tiger Electronics and is available starting in 7/97. These units are not compatible with the Worlds of Wonder Equipment but it IS OFFICIAL LAZER TAG. Some of the features include: 360 ° Detection range Super Strike (a super instant kill power shot 1 per game) a Force Field (protects from enemy fire 3 times a game for 3 seconds each use) and 100 ft. range.
Toys R Us had these for $39.99 when first released.
